Difference between days and hours rota pattern

Days-based rota patterns are an excellent option for users who work full or half days with fixed start and end times. This type of rota pattern is commonly used in industries such as retail, hospitality, and healthcare. When a user books a full day, the system will deduct the entire day from their entitlement, and when they book a half day, the system will deduct half a day from their entitlement.

To generate a pattern based on days, we suggest referring to the guide provided below:

On the other hand, hours-based rota patterns are ideal for users who work flexible hours with varying start and end times. This type of rota pattern is commonly used in industries such as manufacturing, construction, and transportation. When a user books hours, the system will deduct the exact number of hours from their entitlement.

To generate a pattern based on hours, we kindly suggest referring to the guide below:

Rota Setup - Adding a new hours rota pattern

It is essential to understand the difference between days and hours-based rota patterns to ensure accurate time tracking and entitlement deductions. Assigning the appropriate rota pattern to each user based on their work schedule and booking preferences is crucial. We recommend assigning a days-based pattern for users who book in days and view their entitlement in days, while users who book and view their entitlement in hours should be assigned an hours-based pattern.

If you desire to allocate users with a pattern based on hours, but they book in days, kindly consult the guide on the variable hours' rota pattern. It will clarify the various results based on the setup.
