Who this guide is for: System administrators – Requires ‘System Admin’ role and Users permission
Overview:
Enable and configure the Boosted User role so selected users can self-manage, unlock their own timesheets, and (optionally) bypass authorisation when submitting requests for others.
How Boosted User Works:
A Boosted User is a user-level role (set on the user’s Roles tab) that grants elevated abilities:
Self-management: View/edit their own user record (within their Admin User View).
Timesheet control: Unlock their own timesheets in Time Tracking.
Bypass authorisation (front end): Requests they submit for other users skip the standard authorisation workflow. (They won’t see Authorise buttons for requests already pending.)
Optional front-end editing: If e-days Support enables Allow boosted users to edit requests on the front end, they can edit/cancel requests for users who aren’t their reportees.
When Boosted User is selected, an additional option appears: Access all records. If enabled, the user can view/book across other users’ records (absences, overtime, entitlement requests), overriding most record permissions for Reportees and Others. Own permissions are not overridden to prevent inappropriate self-booking on large systems. A confirmation modal guides you to set user views to Everyone and (optionally) apply Standard Administrator for easier setup.
How to Set Up a Boosted User:
Go to Admin tools > Users.
Search for the user and click Edit.
Open the Roles tab.
Enable Boosted User.
(Optional) Tick Access all records and review the confirmation modal:
Consider setting Admin/Staff Records/Calendar/Reporting User Views to Everyone.
Consider applying the Standard Administrator role where appropriate.
(Optional) To let boosted users edit/cancel non-reportee requests on the front end, contact e-days Support to enable Allow boosted users to edit requests on the front end.
Click Save User at the top of the page.
Additional Information:
Boosted User: Elevated user role granting self-management, own timesheet unlocks, and bypass for requests made on behalf of others.
Access all records: Widens visibility and action scope across other users’ records (absences, overtime, entitlement requests).
Required for integrations: Boosted Users are required to create API Client or Partner Admin accounts.
Distinct from account types: Separate from User Account, Partner Admin, API Client, and Developer types.
Requires ‘System Admin’ role and Users permission.
Warning: Access all records is powerful—limit to trusted admins and ensure User Views are appropriate.
Best practice: Enable Notify-style checks and audit logs; periodically review who holds Boosted access.
Use the search function within the platform to quickly find features or settings.
