Overview:
This guide explains how to use the Bulk User Update tool in edays to change the user template assignment for multiple users at once. This avoids the need to update templates one user at a time.
How Bulk Template Updates Work:
Templates control a set of configuration settings applied to users. Bulk updating the template will remove the selected users from their current template and assign them to the new one.
Note: Users can only be assigned to one template at a time. Changing their template will replace their existing template assignment.
Step 1: Access the Bulk User Update Tool
- Go to Admin Tools > Admin Panel.
- Navigate to Users > Bulk User Update.
Step 2: Configure the Template Update
- Under What would you like to update?, set Category of Data to Update to User Template.
- Select the template you want to apply.
Step 3: Select Users to Update
You can select users in several ways:
- Specify Groups – Include users in a certain Country, Location, Team, or other group type.
- Specify User Templates – Include all users currently assigned to a particular template.
- Include Reportees and Leavers – Tick these boxes to include your direct reports and/or leavers.
- Specify Individuals – Search for users by name, click Add to include them in the update.
- Review the List – Remove any individuals you do not want to include.
Step 4: Apply the Update
- Once your selection is finalised, click Update Users.
- All selected users will be removed from their current template and assigned to the new one.
Additional Information:
- User Template: A configuration profile that applies shared settings to multiple users.
- Requires 'System Admin' role, Bulk User Update permission, and Users permission.
- Tip: Carefully review your user list before applying updates, as template changes can alter entitlements, permissions, and workflows.
- This change takes effect immediately for all selected users.
- Use the search function within the platform to quickly find features or settings.
