Overview
Update Template Absence Types so all users on the template inherit consistent booking rules and settings for a specific absence type.
How Template Absence Types Works
Each Absence Type (e.g. Annual Leave, Sickness) can be configured at Template level to override Global settings. Changes apply to every user assigned to the template unless a User-level override exists.
How to Set Up Template Absence Types
- Open the template
- Go to Admin tools > Admin panel > Template > User Templates.
- Find the template and click Edit (you’ll land on Template Settings by default).
- Edit the absence type
- Select the Absence Types tab.
- Locate the required Absence Type (browse or use the Search filter) and click Edit.
- The absence type’s details are displayed—adjust the required values (e.g. booking rules, visibility, permissions).
- Click Save Template at the top of the page.
Additional Information
Absence Type: A category of leave with its own booking/visibility rules.
Requires 'System Admin' role and User Templates permission.
Warning: Template overrides Global; all users on the template are affected.
Best practice: Document changes in internal notes and review a test user on the template to confirm behaviour.
