Enabling Override Full-Day Booking at the Template Level

Who this guide is for
System administrators – Requires 'System Admin' role and User Templates permission

Overview
Enable Full day bookings always equal 1 day at the Template level so a full working day of absence consistently deducts 1 day from entitlement for all users on that template.

How “Full day bookings always equal 1 day” Works
When enabled on an entitlement pot (e.g. Holiday) at Template level, any booking that covers a user’s full working hours for a day deducts exactly 1 day, regardless of the user’s Hours Per Day (HPD). Template overrides Global; User settings can still override the Template.

How to Set Up “Full day bookings always equal 1 day” (Template)

  1. Go to Admin tools > Admin panel > Template > User Templates.
  2. Click Edit on the required template (you’ll land on Template Settings by default).
  3. Select the Entitlements tab.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. On the relevant entitlement pot (e.g. Holiday), enable Full day bookings always equal 1 day.
  6. Click Save Template at the top of the page.

Additional Information

  • Hours Per Day (HPD): The standard daily working hours used for proportional calculations. With this setting on, a full-day booking always deducts 1 day, not a proportion based on HPD.
  • Scope: Applies to day-based booking calculations for the selected pot across all users on the template.
  • Permissions: Requires 'System Admin' role and User Templates permission.
  • Warning: Template overrides Global; enabling here affects all users assigned to the template. User-level overrides will still take precedence.
  • Best practice: Confirm the pot’s Time Unit (typically Days) and test with a sample user on the template before broad rollout.
  • Tip: Use the search function within the platform to quickly find features or settings.
