Who this guide is for: System administrators – Requires ‘System Admin’ role and Users permission
Overview:
This guide explains how to override Absence Type booking settings at the User level, useful when a specific user needs different booking rules than those set globally or via templates.
How Absence Type Booking Settings Work:
Absence Types (e.g. Annual Leave, Sickness) have booking rules—such as whether half-day requests or a reason field are allowed—typically configured at Global or Template levels. Overriding these at the User level enables exceptions for individual users without affecting the wider group.
How to Set Up User-Level Absence Type Booking Settings:
- Go to Admin tools > Admin panel > Users > User Overview.
- Locate the user and click Edit on their row.
- Select the Absence Types tab.
- Search for the relevant Absence Type and click Edit next to it.
- Adjust the booking settings as required (e.g., allow/disallow half-day, require reason).
- Click Save User at the top of the page.
Additional Information:
- Absence Type: A category of leave with its own booking rules.
- Booking Settings: Controls like Can book half-day, require reason, Manager notes.
- Requires ‘System Admin’ role and Users permission.
- Best Practice: Only override for genuine exceptions to maintain consistency.
- Reminder: Changes here apply to this user only—Global and Template settings remain for others.
- Tip: Use the search function within the platform to quickly find users or absence types.
