Choosing a Calendar Integration - iCal, Graph API or Exchange

This guide has been created for system administrators.

Specific role permissions may be required, including: System Setup.

Overview:

The Edays system features both individual and group calendars which can be integrated into your email client (e.g Microsoft Outlook). This guide highlights the three different options available for this integration.

iCal integration

iCalendar (known as iCal) is an open cross-platform calendar file type. What this means is the iCal file type can be read by many types of computer running most brands of email client software. The iCal integration available via Edays is through a Webcal service. The Webcal service allows an email client to store a 'live' link (this link will start - webcal:// as opposed to https://) and periodically (usually every few hours) this Webcal service will send the most up-to-date calendar data to the subscriber.

The iCal method does not require any additional servers and does not require any third party subscription services (e.g Microsoft 365). If you would like to setup iCal integration please follow our guide linked below.

Graph API

This method is available for subscribers to Microsoft 365. Graph API is a restful API (Application Programming Interface) service that allows for the calendar data from Edays to be shared with the Microsoft cloud environment of Microsoft 365. Graph API allows for instantaneous sharing of calendar data from Edays.

To configure Graph API please consult your internal IT team or IT service supplier. If you would like to activate the Graph API integration in your Edays system please follow our guide linked below.

Exchange Server

Exchange Server integration allows for instantaneous sharing of calendar data from Edays.
