This guide is intended for System Administrators
Overview:
Set system-wide rules for who can book specific types of absences (for themselves, reportees or others).
How Global Booking Permissions Work:
- Defines baseline rules for absence submission across your system
- Applies to all users unless overridden by template/user settings
- Ensures consistent access to booking different absence types
How to Set Up:
- Navigate to Admin Tools > Admin Panel
- Select Global > Absence Types
- Locate the absence type (use search if needed) and click Edit
- In Booking Settings, configure:
- Can book own absences (allows a user to book their own absences)
- Can book reportees' absences (allows a user to book their reportees absences)
- Can book others' absences (allows a user to book other user absences)
- Click Save (top right)
Additional Information:
- Key Terms:
- Book own: Submit requests for themselves
- Book reportees': Submit for direct reports
- Book others': Submit for any employee (providing a user is granted permission to view other users)
- Permissions Required: 'Absence Setup' access
- Best Practices:
- Set strict global defaults, then create template exceptions
- Restrict "book others'" to HR/admin roles
- Enable "book reportees'" for management templates
- Important:
- Template/user settings override these global permissions
- Changes affect all users immediately
- User Views applied to a profile can affect who a user can book absences for when 'Others is selected
- Tip: Combine with approval workflows for complete control
- Tip: Use the search function to quickly find absence types and templates
