Who this guide is for: System administrators. Requires 'Absence Setup' and 'Users' permissions.
Overview:
This guide explains how to configure an absence type, so only administrators can book it, by disabling it globally and then enabling it for selected administrator accounts.
How Admin-Only Absence Types Work:
Admin-only absence types restrict the booking of sensitive absences (e.g., Sabbatical or Compassionate Leave) to administrators. Disabling booking globally prevents all users from booking the absence, while enabling it at the User level allows access for specific accounts.
How to Set Up Admin-Only Absence Types:
1. Disable at Global Level
- Go to Admin Tools > Admin Panel.
- Select Global > Absence Type Setup.
- Locate the absence type (use search or browse).
- Click Edit.
- Under Booking Settings, set the required permissions to Yes
- Can Book Own
- Can Book Reportees
- Can Book Others
- Click Save at the top of the page.
- Go to Admin Tools > Admin Panel > Users > Users.
- Search for the user you wish to grant booking access to (e.g., an administrator).
- Click Edit and select the Absence Types tab.
- Find the absence type and click Edit.
- Set the required permissions to Yes:
