Absence Setup - Global level absence type permissions

Who this is for: System administrators. Requires 'Absence Setup' permission.

Overview:
This guide explains how to configure absence type permissions globally, setting default visibility rules for all users.

How Global Absence Permissions Work:
Global permissions define baseline visibility rules for absence records across your organisation. These are overridden by Template or User-level settings.

How to Set Up Global Absence Type Permissions:

  1. Go to Admin Tools > Admin Panel
  2. Select Global > Absence Types in the left panel
  3. Find the absence type (use search if needed)
  4. Click Edit next to the relevant absence type
  5. Expand the Permissions section
  6. Configure settings for:
    • My items: View own absences
    • Reportees: View team members' absences
    • Others: View all users' absences
  7. Click Save at the top of the page

    • Global settings: Apply to all users unless overridden on template or user level
    • My items: Personal absence records
    • Reportees: Team members' records
    • Others: All staff records
