Creating an absence type:
  1. Navigate to Admin tools > Admin panel
  2. Go to Global > Absence type set up.
  3. Press the blue Add New button at the top of the page.
  4. Set the basic options for the new absence type and press the orange Save button at the bottom of the page to create it.
  5. Now that the new absence type has been created its permissions can be set in the lower half of the page.
  6. I'd recommend the Booking Setting be set to No 
  7. At the bottom of the page press, the orange Save button.
Once created, you can then enable the type on the template - see below:
  1. Navigate to Admin tools > Admin panel
  2. Go to Templates > User Templates
  3. Identify the user template you wish to update and press the blue Edit button on its row.
  4. Select the Absence Types tab.
  5. Identify the absence type to update by either browsing or using the search filter at the top of the page.
  6. Press the Edit option on the absence type that requires updating.
  7. Locate the Booking settings and enable.
  8. The absence type's details are now displayed and allow the admin user to edit their values.
  9. At the bottom of the page, press the orange Save button.

This will then disable the absence type on a Global level, but enable on a Template level.
